Position Requirements:

Job Purpose:

To work within Encompass College of Education and Training to become a preferred training provider who is recognised by learners, industry partners, peers, funding bodies and regulatory bodies, as delivering Quality Competency Based Training.

Key Result Areas (KRA’s)

  1. To develop and support existing networks and partnerships within the Training Industry which provide the opportunity for knowledge sharing and resource development.
  2. To increase our learners competency completion rates and employment outcomes
  3. To provide extra opportunities and resources for people who have a disability and others who are disadvantaged within the community to empower them to see for themselves more opportunities for success and recognition which will lead to increased self-esteem and confidence.
  4. To facilitate their learning with smaller class sizes and extra mentoring support
  5. To deliver services that respect individual learning styles, embrace diversity and promote and support inclusiveness.
  6. To follow Encompass College of Education and Training policies and procedures as outlined within the Sessional Trainers Handbook to maintain a continuous improvement process

Duties and Responsibilities of Sessional Trainer

  • It is a requirement that all staff will operate within the Vision, Mission and Values of Encompass Community Services Inc.
  • Comply with the Encompass Community Services Inc. Policies and Procedures, Code of Practice and the processes as outlined within the Trainer/Assessor Handbook
  • Represent the organisation at meetings and functions as required
  • Maintain and update your knowledge of, and conduct Training and Assessment in accordance with the Skills First Program
  • Conduct Training and Assessment, according to the Standards for National VET Regulator (NVR) Registered Training Organisation’s 2015 as follows:
    • Standard 1 The RTO’s training and assessment strategies and practices are responsive to industry and learner needs and meet the requirements of training packages and VET accredited courses
    • Standard 2 The operations of the RTO are quality assured.
    • Standard 3 The RTO issues, maintains and accepts AQF certification documentation in accordance with these Standards and provides access to learner records.
  •  Student’s work, student assessment activities, training plans, and other training related documentation is maintained in an orderly manageable fashion as prescribed by Encompass College of Education and Training procedures
  • Student work, assessments and other documentation are submitted at the prescribed time as required by Encompass College of Education and Training procedures
  • Teach in a manner that is responsive to students’ needs
  • Promote, conduct and/or refer enquiries or assessments of Recognition of Prior Learning
  • Ensure that reasonable adjustments are made in the work place and classroom for learners with learning and/or literacy and numeracy difficulties
  • Participate in and promote trainers meetings, course review processes, strategic committee meetings including assessment validation and moderations as organised by Encompass College of Education and Training
  • Ensure all students’ welfare, privacy and safety at all times
  • Provide accurate recording of use of time in format required by Encompass College of Education and Training
  • Develop and maintain accurate knowledge of your respective course (s), the units of competency and the training package requirements including maintaining currency and industry experience and engagement.
  • Participation in Personal Development to ensure currency in chosen field/sector will be required at own expense.

Students/Trainees work placements and/or work experience

  • Follow the Encompass College of Education and Training process for work placement.
  • Ensure that students on work placements are supported by the employer and if possible arrange for an employee to act as a mentor to the student
  • Monitor the work placement by a minimum of 1 visit to ascertain student’s progress, identify any learning gaps and adjust the placement timeframe to fill those gaps.
  • Negotiate further training with the employer if necessary
  • Ensure that employer & student feedback forms are completed after work placements and provided to Encompass Community Services

Continuous Improvement, Course Planning and Review

  • Work as part of the Encompass College of Education and Training team in the planning, delivery and evaluation of courses, including attendance at meetings and professional development as required
  • Commitment to maintaining and improving management, AQTF systems and any other aspects of Encompass College of Education and Training
  • Commitment to maintaining and improving training and assessment environments and resources
  • Develop and maintain accurate knowledge of your respective course, the units of competency and the training package requirements
  • Report any issues that arise within your area of training and participate in any feedback forums with students identifying matters of concern to the Training Manager and/or Student placement & Trainers support
  • Knowledge of and understanding of the AQF training standards and conditions for Continual Registration and the Australian Qualifications Framework and the requirements of the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA)
  • Ability to work with all client groups including those with a disability and from disadvantaged backgrounds.

Key Performance Indicators – Sessional Trainer

KPI 1 – It is a requirement that all staff will operate within the Vision, Mission and Values of Encompass Community Services Inc.
KPI 2 – It is the responsibility of each individual to meet personal, divisional and organisational deadlines
KPI 3 – It is a requirement for all staff to undertake their roles in accordance with the compliance guidelines of their division/program. And to actively participate in the maintenance of Encompass quality standards.
KPI 4 – It is the responsibility of all staff members to understand and implement Encompass Community Services Inc. Current policies and procedures.
KPI 5 – It is expected of staff members that they create opportunities to connect clients of Encompass with the wider community in a setting which does not segregate. When planning programs ensure that opportunities are created for clients of Encompass to feel that they belong, be a valued participant and be missed if they are not there.
KPI 6 – It is the responsibility of staff members to report any incidents of exclusion to their direct manager, coordinator or supervisor
KPI 7 It is the responsibility of all staff members to ensure the safety of children and to report all incidents of child abuse to Managers
It is also the responsibility of all staff members to be familiar with the Child Safety Policy and Procedure.
KPI 8 – To Comply with the Encompass Community Services Inc. Policies and Procedures, Code of Practice and the processes as outlined within the Trainers Handbook 2018.
KPI 9 – Represent the organisation as required.
KPI 10 – Conduct Training and Assessment, in accordance with the 2017 Skills First Program
KPI 11 – Conduct Training and Assessment, in accordance with ASQA standards
KPI 12 – Conduct Training and Assessment, in accordance with the Essential Standards and Guidelines of the Standards for National VET Regulator (NVR) Registered Training Organisations 2015 and/or Standards for VET Accredited Courses 2015
KPI 13 – All course/unit related documentation is completed and submitted prior to the delivery of timetabled unit.
KPI 14 – Student’s work, student’s assessment activities, training plans, and other training related documentation is maintained in an orderly manageable fashion as prescribed by Encompass College of Education.
KPI 15 – Student work, assessments (including RPL) and other documentation are fully completed and submitted within 14 days of the completion.
KPI 16 – Ensure all students welfare, privacy and safety at all times and train in a manner that is responsive to student’s needs, making reasonable adjustments for literacy and Numeracy
KPI 17 – Work as part of the Encompass Training team in the planning, delivery and evaluation of courses, including attendance at meetings and professional development as required.
KPI 18 – Ensure that students on work placements are supported monitor the work placement to ascertain student’s progress, identify any learning gaps and adjust the training and assessment strategy, participate in employer consultations and ensure employer relationships are maintained and improved.
KPI 19 – Attend all Trainers, strategic, validation and moderation meeting as required
KPI 20 – Promptly report any issues that arise within your area of training and participate in any feedback forums/discussions with students identifying matters of concern to the Training Manager and/or Student placement & Trainers support.
KPI 21 – To annually update and sign your Resume, Trainer Assessor Profile and professional development record as required.
KPI 22 – Develop and maintain accurate knowledge of your respective course (s), the units of competency and the training package requirements including maintaining currency and industry experience and engagement.
KPI 23 – Complete Personal Development to ensure currency in chosen field/sector. This is at the Trainers own cost.
KPI 24 – Write resources as required
KPI 25 – Market ECET as required

Essential

  • TAE-40110 Certificate IV Training & Assessment, including the LL&N unit
  • Vocational qualifications and experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Knowledge of AQTF audit requirements
  • Holds a current driver’s licence

Mandatory Requirements

  • Satisfactory completion of Police Check
  • Working with Children’s Check
  • Disability Workers Exclusion Scheme Check
