The Australian Government recently introduced the NDIS Worker Screening Check, an additional and national legislated compliance requirement to determine if a person is cleared to work with people with a disability. Encompass Community Services requires all employees to obtain the NDIS Worker Screening Check. An employment application requires the applicant to submit evidence that this check has been attained prior to commencing employment. 
Registered NDIS providers are now  required to report to the NDIS Commission on the vaccination status of their employees, in accordance with the Pandemic COVID-19 Mandatory Vaccination (Specified Workers) Order (5). An employment application requires the applicant to submit evidence of proof of vaccination prior to commencing employment.

THE ROLE  

Reporting to the General Manager of Support Services the Accommodation Services Manager provides operational leadership and oversight for Encompass Community Services accommodation and associated support services. The position is responsible for providing high-quality, person-centred support to our residents, their families, and their carers.  

 The role supports the delivery of Supported Independent Living (SIL) and Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) Programs and must ensure services are designed and delivered in accordance with service plans, contractual requirements and in line with the strategic direction of the organisation.

 

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide holistic, high-level oversight to Accommodation Services, ensuring end to end delivery of high quality supports in all residences.  
  • Oversee the expansion of accommodation services by the roll out of STA (short term accommodation) and ILO (Independent Living Options).  
  • Oversee and support all House Supervisors in ensuring a safe and positive experience for residents, their carers and families, and our employees.  
  • Oversee the delivery of high-quality integrated services that meet the needs of residents, their carers and families, while meeting safety requirements.  
  • Review the quality and delivery of residents NDIS goals, keeping the safeguarding of residents and the NDIS Code of Conduct central to all service delivery decisions.  
  • Oversee the response to major incidents and personal crisis of residents as required and  
  • Prepare NDIS and other regulatory authority reports for Accommodation Services, including oversight of all mandatory reporting requirements.  
  • Liaise with Participants and their families and nominees to obtain consent and signatures for NDIS Service Agreements, Roster of Care, and Schedule of Supports.  
  • Oversee the delivery of resident’s Annual Plan review.  
  • Work collaboratively with the senior leadership team to identify, develop and implement key organisational plans, stakeholder engagement strategies and staff performance plans.  
  • Understand the NDIS funding framework including the role of Support Coordination and funding of Individual Plans.  
  • Contribute to Accommodation Services workforce planning, ensuring effective utilisation of current workforce and oversee effective, safe rostering practices.

 

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE 

  • Previous active experience in a similar role is essential   
  • Formal qualifications in Management, Leadership or a relevant discipline (highly desirable)  
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience delivering high standard practice and leadership in client services  
  • Demonstrated skills and experience in capacity building and change management  
  • Ability to review and contribute to outcomes for clients with a variety of needs  
  • Understanding of the purpose and expectations of the Victorian Child Safe Standards and demonstrated commitment to contributing to a child safe organisation in both practice and culture  
  • Understanding of the purpose and expectations of the NDIS Quality and Safeguard Commissions Practice Standards and Quality Indicators  
  • Previous experience with Project Management and / or expansion of services  
  • Full Australian working rights & Victorian Drivers Licence  
  • NDIS Workers Screening Check and Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain) 
  • Evidence of COVID-19 vaccination status inclusive of booster

THE ROLE  

To oversee the smooth running of the Support Services at Encompass Community Services Inc. 

To assist in the development and expansion of activities and projects to align with NDIS participants goals and support requirements

The ability to market Encompass Community Services Inc. services and activity opportunities for NDIS participants within the Wyndham region.

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Participate in program development associated with the growth and needs of participants. Pass on ideas and feedback about potential program development to Manager or delegate, including any feedback communicated by key stakeholders.
  • Working collaboratively with our Participants, Families, Support Workers, Support Coordinators and Allied Health professionals to bring NDIS plan goals to life
  • Provide the Support Worker teams relevant information to ensure responsive, person centred care that enables participants to progress toward their individual care plan goals
  • An ability to analyse problem/difficult situations and seek solutions that effectively address any issues  
  • Contribute to the design, development and evaluation of the workplace mentoring program including performance appraisals and staff supervision.
  • Liaise and collaborate with Managers, staff and other stakeholders to achieve a cohesive positive experience.
  • Engage, monitor, support and motivate staff
  • Provide support and undertake other duties within scope as directed.
  • A demonstrated ability to mentor staff by providing them with relevant information, support, provide feedback and opportunities around professional development.
  • Participate in program development consistent with current growth and needs with participants and Encompass.
  • Plan, maintain, implement and be responsible for activities and budgets for programs.
  • Attend all meetings required, associated to the business of Encompass Community Services Inc. 
  • Support Encompass Community Services Inc. in all current and new business for example participating in functions, meetings and performing alternate tasks. Promote a positive image of other Encompass service areas where relevant.
  • Participate in training and other opportunities provide by Encompass Community Services Inc. management to develop skills and knowledge and increase professional development.

Achieve set individual and group targets set by Encompass Community Services, Management and Funding Bodies. 

Network with key employer stakeholders groups to facilitate appropriate sustainable employment placements. 

Provide and assist in training, support and education to the employer and staff to achieve successful placement for new employee. 

Complete required administration tasks associated with the placement and maintenance of job seekers.  Complete administration tasks on behalf of Encompass Community Services Inc. including reports, tenders as required. 

Attend all scheduled meetings and participate in training and other opportunities provided by Encompass Community Services Inc. management to increase individual Professional Development. 

Support Encompass Community Services Inc. in all current and new business for example, participating in functions, meetings and performing alternate tasks. 

Support the business to develop strategies based on 4 key drivers; Commencements, Engagement, Placements, Outcomes and to achieve a minimum of Three Star performance at ESA Level.  

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE 

  • A minimum of 1-2 years of DES consultancy experience or equivalent role preferred. 
  • Knowledge of the Disability Community Sector and not for profit industry. 
  • NDIS Worker Screening Check or the willingness to obtain.  
  • Drivers Licence 
  • Professional approach and ability to work under pressure. 
  • Organisational and time management skills and excellent attention to detail. 
  • Confident manner & Positive approach to change.

Encompass currently has multiple roles available for experienced Disability Support Workers within the Greater City of Geelong.

Roles will be assisting a range of NDIS participants within Encompass Community Services, Options & Connections, In Home Care  & and Day / Travel programs.  Full time, part time and casual roles will be available.
