
CHC43115 – Certificate IV in Disability
This qualification is targeted specifically towards those people who wish to work in the disability care sector, either in a residential care facility, home setting or day programs as a support worker. Your knowledge and skills gained from this qualification will enhance the ability for you to assist people with disabilities to achieve greater levels of independence, self-reliance and community participation.

JOB OUTCOMES
Day Support Disability Workers provide social, recreational and educational activities for clients with disabilities. They assist clients to develop skills both in the home environment and in the community.
Disability Support Assistants (Schools) provide in-school support for children with disabilities, including physical and behavioural support.
Personal Carer/ Senior Personal Care Assistants provide household assistance, emotional support, care and companionship, either in the home or within a residential facility for people who are aged or those who have a disability.
MODE OF STUDY / COURSE DURATION
This is undertaken as a combination of class based delivery, independent learning tasks, research, assignments and practical placement.
ASSESSMENT METHODS
Assessment is provided in a standard format by using a variety of methods including observation, question and answer, case studies, role plays and practical placement experiences.
PREREQUISITES
Pre-Training Review
PRE-TRAINING REVIEW
All candidates are expected to complete a Pre-Training Review prior to enrolment. This review ensures that the delivery and assessment plan is designed to meet your individual needs. This will be assessed by a trainer to ascertain your suitability for this qualification. Your eligibility and pathway choices will also be discussed.
PRACTICAL PLACEMENT is not an option
Encompass College of Education and Training prides itself on ensuring that graduates are work ready. Please do not enrol in any course if you believe you may not have a clear National Police Check and/or a clear Working with Children’s Check before first speaking to our Practical Placement Officer. Compulsory Practical Placement of 120-150 hours.

Once your suitability for this qualification has been ascertained you will complete the enrolment process. You will also be given a student handbook.
FURTHER DETAILS
Subsidised non-concession places available for persons looking to up-skill to a higher qualification. Enrolment in a funded place for this course may have a later impact on your ability to access future Government funding. Individuals with disabilities are encouraged to access Government funding.
This training is delivered with Victorian and Commonwealth Government funding.
