JOB OUTCOMES
Fruit and Vegetable Farm Worker
Fruit and Vegetable Farm Workers carry out high-level fruit and vegetable farming operations. They prepare soils for planting; implement crop planting and maintenance programs; co-ordinate harvesting; and supervise work site activities. They treat crops and trees for disease, and operate and troubleshoot irrigation systems.
Orchard Worker
Orchard Workers perform a wide range of duties on a fruit and/or nut farm. This may include operating tractors and equipment; establishing and maintaining crops; treating weeds, pests and diseases and; irrigation activities.
Mushroom Farm Worker
Mushroom Farm Workers carry out high-level growing and maintenance duties on mushroom farms. They supervise substrate production; set and monitor environmental conditions in specialised growing areas; monitor safety and hygiene; and co-ordinate harvesting activities. They may have leadership responsibilities.
MODE OF STUDY
This is undertaken as a combination of class based
delivery, excursions and independent learning tasks.
ASSESSMENT METHODS
Assessment is provided in a standard format by using a variety of methods including observation, question and answer, portfolio of evidence, role plays and demonstrations.
PREREQUISITES
You will be required to have appropriate language and literacy entry level skills. Students will be required to produce a current Police Check before undertaking this course.
PRE-TRAINING
All candidates are expected to complete a Pre-Training Review prior to enrolment. This review ensures that the delivery and assessment
plan is designed to meet your individual needs. This will be
assessed by a trainer to ascertain your suitability for this qualification. Your eligibility and pathway choices will also be discussed.
ENROLMENT
Once your suitability for this qualification has been ascertained you will complete the enrolment process. You will also be given a student handbook.
