Travel and Holiday Programs

Encompass Community Services stared its Travel & Holiday Program in 2000. Since then four big travel excursions have been organised along with a number of short camps.

Our Travel and Holiday Program is available for people with disabilities wishing to enhance their independence skills. This program is a great opportunity for participants of our Youth Service Program. They get to travel and know interesting places whilst applying all the skills they have been learning at program.

Participants are involved in every step of the process. They research destinations, help to choose the right place to go and set the activities.

All our travel and holiday excursions have been designed to provide our clients and participants with opportunity to fully enjoy their independence and abilities. The receive support from staff and volunteers but are constantly encouraged to try for themselves

Queensland 2000

The Gold Coast of Australia was the destination of the first excursion. 6 young people with disabilities spend 7 nights enjoying all the attractions and theme parks

America 2002

A group of 5 participants visited Los Angeles and enjoyed the action at Hollywood Boulevard, Universal Studios and Disneyland. The excursion also included a short visit to Tijuana in the Mexican border.

Queensland 2004

17 participants with disabilities visited Queensland and for ## days. They visited the theme parks

America 2005

15 participants went to America in November 2005. The initial destination was Los Angeles where participants enjoyed Hollywood Boulevard, Universal Studios and Disneyland. The excursion also included a short visit to Phoenix Arizona and Sea World San Diego. For 17 days, participants got to know the American culture enjoying Thanks Giving Day, they also visited the Grand Canyon and they got to spent some time in beautiful Hawaii.

Our Next Big Excursion

NEW ZEALAND 2008

A group of Encompass clients and staff are currently planning their trip to New Zealand. The group will be leaving the 24th of August and will be returning to Australia the 5th of September.

YOUTH CAMPS

Camps are organised at least once a year. They are a great opportunity for our clients to experience a few days (3 to 5) away from home and practice all the skills they have learned as part of their programs at Encompass Community Services Inc.

The camps are designed to be action based with fast pace activities. The camps are fully catered for and clients are under constant supervision of staff members. Camps only available to youth services clients.
