Testimonials
From Sophie
Dutertre
For two years now, Encompass Community Services Inc. has been running courses for the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre's members. These courses include Food Handling, Customer Service and First Aid.
Our members are a challenging and vulnerable group of people on temporary visas, often survivors of torture and trauma, and always very anxious and depressed. The trainer’s compassion, empathy and great flexibility in working around their needs and at their pace is making all the difference. Not every trainer could adapt to the needs of these students.
The level of additional
support given by Encompass goes way beyond the call of duty. Courses that
seemed too difficult to run in one day, given the students' English language
skills and concentration ability has been extended over two days. Assessments
are undertaken in different ways to make sure their level of skills is
reflected. Most of our students have got some learning disability - generally
because their level of anxiety, but also because their level of English varies.
Despite this, most are successful in obtaining the certificate at the end of
the course.
Are they great trainers? Indeed! Their combination of personality, professionalism, dedication to students and belief in their potential, means that positive results are always achieved.
From student
completing a Traineeship
As a student completing a traineeship with Encompass
ETD, I was extremely grateful for all the support from my colleagues within the
Employment division and the assistance and mentoring from the ETD staff.
Whenever I required any assistance it was given without hesitation and with a
high degree of professionalism. Many thanks to all involved in making
this experience a very pleasant and enlightening one.
