In 2010, Encompass founded the Urban Farm initiative which is facilitated at The Paddock property. Initially it started as a group of volunteers working on garden maintenance. It has now transitioned into a program which provides tenable employment opportunities for 26 weeks whilst engaging clients in a positive self development pathway into future employment.
Encompass’ Urban Farm program is an initiative of the Encompass Employment Services designed with the intent to build participants’ capacity for work by: engaging participants in eight hours paid work (Award Wages), focusing on developing on the job work skills, providing the option of participation in nationally accredited horticulture training and promoting social inclusion and ownership of a farming program.
The program reflects an identified need in the local community to provide work experience in a team environment. Additionally, the Urban Farm has the capacity to grow into a self sustainable enterprise essentially to offer training and employment opportunities for our participants.
If you have a disability and are interested in volunteering at the Encompass Urban Farm please contact Stephan Hanan from the Encompass Employment Services on 5222 3377.
